Snatch Tips from Yours Truly

Maya Garcia from the Ice Chamber Gym asked if I would do a short interview addressing snatch tips. Snatches are a source of frustration especially for those of us who've got smaller hands, wrists, ect.

Here is the Article. KB Snatch Interview at the Ice Chamber Blog

Keep in mind, this assumes that you've been coached and are proficient in gross movements of the snatch technique. Once you get the technique in order, then you need to really build consistency in the training to further refine the technique.

Nice article Catherine, thanks for the tips. Can I ask you, when performing the heavier one-arm jerks as an assistance for snatches, would you typically perform one set at the end of your snatch session? And if so, would you perform as many as possible on one side, then switch? And at what pace? Say, 6 rpm? 12rpm? Thanks!

Hey Howie,

Thanks. Sorry, I'm just seeing this.

As assistance, I recommend the OAJ after snatches. As assistance, they can be done for reps and not time. However, the lockout should be held for 2-3 seconds. So, I recommend a weight that you can do for 8+ reps and 1-2 sets after snatches. For men who use the 24kg for snatches, this would mean using a 32kg.

Thanks Catherine! No worries, I know you were busy the last few days. Wish I could have joined you all. Looking forward to the Coach's Cert in June. Any chance you'll be attending?
